As required by federal regulations, the University must employ at least one work-study eligible student per academic year to work as a reading tutor for children who are preschool age or are in elementary school. The University must also employ a mathematics tutor for elementary children. Federal work-study eligibility is required for this position. The reading and math student tutor(s) will be employed by the GSU Financial Aid Office, in collaboration with Gilmer County Elementary School. The tutor(s) report directly to the Financial Aid Office Assistant II and indirectly to the Director of Financial Aid. The primary expectations and duties of the tutor are as follows:
